Recreation Assistant

As a Recreation Assistant in a leisure centre or a health club, you'll work under the direction of a centre manager to organise, supervise and lead a range of leisure and health activities. You'll help to set up, maintain and dismantle equipment, monitor its use and ensure guests' safety. You'll dealwith customer enquiries and sometimes with emergencies requiring first aid.

Previous experience in leisure of sport is more valuable than qualifications, although relevant qualifications are usually advantageous. Self-confidence and physical fitness are crucial, while first aid, pool plant and life-saving certificates are also required but can be obtained while on the job.
