The role of Operations Manager in a health club or leisure centre is a senior one.
You'll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the club or centre,
managing staff, interacting with guests, overseeing events and operations and ensuring
that the centre is running smoothly. You may be required to oversee customer services,
hospitality and facilities management. The Operations Manager also to creates and
implement plans to ensure the centre's operations run efficiently in future.
This role requires previous experience in operations management as well as a general
knowledge of a wide range of sports and leisure activities. Professional business
management qualifications are useful to someone wanting to work as an Operations
Manager, but prior experience in similar roles is the most important requirement.
You should have excellent people skills, a calm head under pressure, and the ability
to attend to fine details while keeping the larger picture in mind.
