An Administration Assistant in a health club or leisure centre handles the day-to-day
office work of the establishment. It's an important role under the auspices of the
administration department and reporting ultimately to an administration manager.
As an Administration Assistant you would work with documents and information, managing
filing and retrieval, recording and updating information in a database, typing letters,
managing correspondence, diaries and photocopying.
Most levels of education and experience will qualify you for work as an Administration
Assistant. Employers may require GCSEs in mathematics and English or prefer to assess
skills like typing, filing and telephone skills. Taking temporary jobs can be an
excellent method of gaining experience in administration. NVQ qualifications in
Business and Administration would put you near the top of the pile of people seeking
work as Administration Assistants.
