Facilities Manager

Facilities Managers work in leisure centres and health clubs to ensure that the establishment's facilities (buildings and all equipment) meet all the needs of their users and occupants with the utmost safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. As a Facilities Manager, you would manage budgets, maintenance, equipment ordering, refurbishments and space allocation. You'd negotiate deals with equipment suppliers, manage security and maintain the functionality of some systems and processes.

To work as a Facilities Manager you'll require management skills (i.e. people management, budget control, business strategy) as well as knowledge and understanding of property and equipment management. You'll need strong administrative and organisational skills, and experience in the field is a huge benefit. Formal qualifications may not be required, but part-time and long-distance diplomas and Masters degrees are available in relevant fields and would be beneficial.
